Smoky Pepper Stew

An absolutely perfect meal…delicious soup that can be made mild or fiery hot with the chipotle peppers!  Very nice on a cool night!

Did you know…?

While chipotle peppers are not a raw food, they contain capsaicin which is excellent in fighting any kinds of inflammation.  A little goes a long way, but the benefits, both nutritionally and in taste are phenomenal!


1 red pepper

½ red pepper, chopped

2 stalks of celery

½ cup of chopped greens

½ of an avocado

¼ cup of sunflower seeds, soaked

½ cup of water

1 clove of garlic

Salt or dulse to taste

A dash of chipotle pepper powder


 Put all the ingredients, except ¼  the avocado, ½ of the sunflower seeds, ½ of a celery stalk and the chopped greens, into a blender and blend until smooth.  If you like your soup a little warm, you can use warm water and room temperature ingredients or you can leave it running in the blender for a longer time.  Some blenders could get it almost to the boiling point so keep an eye on it!  Pour the soup into soup bowls and top with chopped avocado, chopped peppers, chopped celery and a sprinkle of sunflower seeds.  Serve immediately.
